What is Music Therapy?

Music Therapy is a dynamic, evidence-based approach to meeting your therapeutic goals. It provides a pathway to creative self-expression, meaningful connection, and personal growth. Using music based interventions, we target various domains of development and quality of life factors. Music reaches beyond words - and so does our care.

Step 1 of 3 - Meeting

Let's Connect!

We start by getting to know you, your needs, strengths, preferences, and goals. This helps us understand how music therapy can best support you or your loved one.

Step 2 of 3 - Plan

Set Goals

Together, we create an individualized treatment plan with meaningful goals designed around each client’s unique needs. These goals guide the direction of services and help track progress over time.

Step 3 of 3 - Sessions

We make music, every step of the way

Music therapy sessions begin with evidence-based, engaging interventions designed to support growth, connection, and self-expression. Each session is adapted to meet the client where they are and help them move toward their goals.

Good questions

The things people ask first

Not even a little. Music therapy isn't about performing or playing "correctly", it's about using music as a tool to reach personal goals. Someone who's never touched an instrument is exactly who this is built for.

Many clients use insurance, a Medicaid waiver, or school/district funding to cover music therapy, and some pay privately. Coverage varies a lot by plan and state.

When you reach out, we'll walk through your specific options and give you a clear, written estimate before anything begins.

Every session follows the same gentle shape: a familiar hello song, some playful music-making around your goals (drumming, singing, movement, instrument exploration), and a calm goodbye song that signals "we're done." Predictability is part of the therapy.

A lesson teaches an instrument. Therapy uses music to work on non-musical goals, communication, regulation, motor skills, social connection, guided by a board-certified clinician with an individualised plan and measurable progress.

Yes, and it's one of the things we do best. We start soft, follow your cues, keep volume low and predictable, and never push. Many sound-sensitive people find live, responsive music far easier than recorded sound, because it bends to them.

Send us a message below, or start a new-client intake, and we'll talk through your needs, answer every question, and find a relaxed first session that fits. No commitment, no pressure.
